Meredith E. Lindsay, owner of MELT
Through creative play and inspirations drawn from infinite flavor compliments, a passion for creating tantalizing treats began in her childhood kitchen outside of NYC. After pursuing a Bachelors of Science degree in Political Science, Meredith realized her true love was rooted in the magic of a kitchen.
Her path continued alongside dessert and pastry chefs in some of the most creative kitchens in New England; experience that she considers priceless and integral to who she is today. After relocating to the East Rock community of New Haven (where she has resided for nearly two decades) Meredith began immersing herself in the art of truffle making and chocolate creating.
With support from friends and her large, tight-knit family, Meredith realized her dream of starting her own business and ventured out to create MELT Chocolatier. Her sweet treats encompass the comfort and nostalgia she found in her childhood kitchen, and her passion is in sharing that with you. She creates everything by hand to give it a truly personal feel, so that you can feel the love inside each chocolate and know that it was made specially for you.
Meredith’s gentle kindness and contagious laughter are just some of the things that make her the heart of the kitchen. Take a seat and let her serenade you with her story (and maybe show you some pictures of her furry and feathered family, too).

ALL ABOUT THE CHOCOLATE
At the core of each chocolate is love!
In 2011, MELT found its beginning in a shared space within Marjolaine Pastry Shop in New Haven; as an extension of Meredith’s already successful career as a baker and pastry chef. Drawing inspiration from her community within the food industry, she began experimenting with unique flavor combinations and perfecting classic recipes. Refining her methods over time, she’s created a signature style with truly unique, one-of-a-kind recipes.
Using fresh cream, Belgian chocolate, pure extracts and high quality ingredients are just some of the things that make MELT so special. Each confection is made by hand, and in small batches to ensure each item meets the level of expectation we demand of ourselves. We’re confident you’ll be able to taste the love that goes into our creations.
Our signature collection includes decadent truffles, chewy caramels and sweet fudge. We also feature nutty tree bark, toasted coconut haystacks, and hand-dipped crunchy pretzels. Our current menu features items with nuts and dairy, but we offer a dairy free option as well and are always looking for ways to expand our product line.
